[edit] Overview

Though Isabelle Tyler's powers aren't exactly defined, she has driven her mother crazy, almost killed Jordan Collier, and managed to make several hunters kill themselves. With the start of Season 3, she has instantly grown into a fully developed adult woman. Her rapid aging also led to her mother's rapid aging, which eventually led to her death. Isabelle possesses fast regeneration abilities saving her from getting burned from a candle and surviving a jump off the edge of a high building. Matthew Ross came to Isabelle and told her what he had learned about her and where her destiny lie. At first she was resistant of the news and claimed that she had a choice, but later came to accept it. Over the course of series three she was shown to be extremely dangerous and persistent, possibly even psychotic, but as of Fifty-Fifty she appears to no longer have any abilities, and so might be no longer considered a threat. She has shown to still have feelings for Shawn and regrets what she has done to him. She also feels used by the future and there are clues that lead the viewers to believe that she still has a connection to the future. She also knows that the future sent Tom to kill her as well. She also knew of the painting of Alana that Tom went to go see at the museum in episode The Wrath of Graham even though she has not been let out of jail after Alana's reabduction. Currently she is in prison but she will be relocated to a new facility for people who took the shot and developed non-threatening 4400 abilities. At this moment she is allergic to promicin and she will die if she tries a shot. In Daddy's Little Girl, Richard returned and gave Isabelle water that made her regress back to the age of three. This was reversed in One of Us due to Richard being convinced that he was wrong by an illusion of Lily. Isabelle regained her powers in Tiny Machines, and used them to kidnap Jordan Collier and bring him to the Marked. In the end, she rebelled against the Marked and was subsequently killed by the "insurance policy" that had been inserted into her when she gained her abilities back.

Since Isabelle was not an abductee, she is not technically a 4400 [1]. However, many consider her to be a member of the 4400 because of her perplexing origin. Her mother, Lily, came back from her abduction pregnant, even though she had not been before. It was confirmed in One of Us that Richard was Isabelle's father in flashback scenes showing two of the Brutal and Powerful Elite operating on Richard and Lily in the Future Room. Isabelle has the sickle cell trait, a gene that can be found mostly in African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean populations and the obvious fact that Isabelle is of African-American origin. When Collier attempted to force Lily to stay at Arcadia Estates, he was nearly killed when he touched Lily's stomach.

[edit] Powers

Isabelle, unlike the 4400, has no natural boundaries to her powers, thanks to connections between the left and right hemispheres in her brain, completely unique to her, which allow the promicin in her bloodstream to unlock far more 4400-abilities than others. There is a theory that she has every single power a 4400 has, but only a handful of powers have seen so far.

Isabelle temporarily lost her abilities due to the actions of her father with the Anti-promicin syringe, and also suffered a permanent allergy to promicin that would kill her if she took a free promicin shot. However, Marked Agent Tom Baldwin put Isabelle through a regiourous chemical treatment that removed her allergy, and then proceeded to inject promicin into her system. Since Isabelle didn't die from the effects of the shot, it is assumed she regained her abilities.

The only powers Isabelle has displayed are;

  • Illusion
  • Limited-Precognition
  • Power Reversal
  • Thermokinesis
  • Psychic Attacks
  • Regeneration
  • Rapid Learning
  • Rapid Aging
  • Telekinesis
  • Telepathy
  • Teleportation

[edit] Purpose

Initially, Isabelle's purpose was left unclear and, due to the mysterious nature of her conception, was believed to be a coming savior. However, this was ultimately wrong and her true purpose was quite the opposite: Marked agent Matthew Ross reveals to Isabelle, upon her rapid aging, her ultimate purpose: She is "The Enemy", a being created by the Brutal and Powerful Elite to undo the opposing faction's efforts to stop the Catastrophe by destroying the 4400. Isabelle accepted this, and attempted to carry out her purpose by attempting to assassinate Jordan Collier after his resurrection and killed many 4400's along the way, but in the end failed and her abilities neutralized, ending the threats she posed.

Isabelle's purpose changed during her brief time in prison, Isabelle was convinced by Kyle Baldwin that every Promicin Positive's purpose can change, and was inspired to join Jordan Collier's movement so she can help mankind, instead of threatening it.

Once again used by the Marked, her powers restored, Isabelle is sent to assasinate Kyle Baldwin. Instead she kisses and embraces him, and says goodbye. Then she walks into the safehouse where Tom Baldwin and Jordan Collier are being held, kills everyone, and in her dying breath says "make this world better than it is". Jordan had previously asked her to kill him rather than let the Marked use him to destroy the movement, remarking that while Isabelle may not have liked the options she was given, she made a choice. In the end, Jordan was right, and Isabelle dies in both his and Tom Baldwin's arms, freeing them to stop the Marked.
